About This Research Project

There are many elements in the public relations process, but one of the most sustaining functions in the profession is capturing public attention by employing the rich, famous and powerful to promote everything from products to charitable causes. Celebrities themselves must manage their public personae as well as the media attention that might befall them.

Kyle F. Reinson’s COMM 270 class at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York, decided to explore celebrity in the fall, 2011 semester. This blog represents the research and writing of thoughtful students who have grown up — as most Americans have in the era of mass communication — within a culture of celebrity.
