Toddlers and Tiaras: Too much? Too Young?

Toddlers and Tiaras, a television show aired on TLC follows the lives of toddlers involved in beauty pageants, and their crazy mothers support them.  This shocking show highlights the entire behind the scenes work that goes into toddlers winning beauty pageants.  These little girls go tanning, get their nail done, wear obscene amounts of makeup, and dress up in revealing outfits.  The show is taking heat for episode where the toddlers dressed up as celebrities for the pageant.  Three year old, Paisley showed off her “best” Julia Roberts.  Paisley was not a modest Julia Roberts, in fact she dressed as Julia Roberts from “Pretty Woman”.  Paisley was dressed as a hooker on stage:  bare midriff and thigh high leather boots.

Is the tiara worth the exploitation of these young girls?  Why are so many shows like this, and “Dance Moms” pushing limits with toddlers?

  1. I couldn’t even imagine being a parent of a toddler doing beauty pageants like this. I honestly can’t even take parents seriously who put their children into pageants at such a young age…
